Yb diffusion from thin layer into the grain boundary of a YAG bicrystal. X-ray fluorescence map acquired at 24.4keV for Yb (La) Each pixel measured is 120 x120 nm, the FIB lamella is inclined with respect to the incident X-ray beam, causing a slightly distorted image of the real geometry. Colours range in intensity from black through blue, red, orange and yellow to white with increasing concentration.
